Bridgeview Youth Group Prepares Hearts for New Space

by Nate Rogers

The youth at Bridgeview United Methodist Church are preparing our hearts and minds for the movement into the new building. We’ve been prayerful since the considerations for the move were introduced. We are building our youth on a rock of Christ’s teachings, prayer, and the study of the scriptures and will be carrying this over to a place that will serve as a monument to His presence. The youth are getting excited at the thought of having a building to invite friends to, a place where they can come and involve themselves however much they feel called. This new building will serve to give us a larger fellowship, Bible study, and worship area. This new building will provide us with the space to offer newcomers a home and will offer new amenities to our youth group members. With our Savior’s involvement in our move to a new church home, our dreams and plans for the future will only serve as a template for His perfect plan.

We recognize that the Christian life is not an easy life to pursue, especially through the teenage years. Our goal is to create Christ followers that don’t just follow the name of Christians, but seek Christ’s guidance through every event life has to offer. We are currently structuring our youth to prepare for discipleship in the world. One of our first steps toward this discipleship is the mission trip we will take to Mexico during spring break, where we will build homes.

We appreciate the level of commitment Bridgeview has towards the youth group, everything from the snack suppers to the transportation of youth to and from church. The involvement of the congregation is necessary for the survival of a youth program. Our dream is that Bridgeview’s new building will serve as a foundation for us to minister in, mission from, and serve throughout.

  1. What a great beginning to our capital stewardship journey this weekend!
This morning when I read Day 1's prayer journal and reflected on my salvation experience throughout the day, I couldn't help but think of the many salvation experiences where God met me time and time again and led me to life. Certainly all those years ago in Jr. High my encounter with Christ through St. John's UMC was a vital beginning. But there would be several points along the journey that life became a mess - often by my own hand, and God came through again and again saving me and offering a new beginning. God has been so faithful. It's only by his grace that I am the person I am today. I pray that God will use me in every way possible to share Christ's love with others. My heart's desire is to help others experience God's extravagant love and then be compelled to share it with others.
